Excellence in purpose
Ultimate purpose is to recognize God, know Him, worship Him and declare His glory.
On earth our ultimate purpose includes giving life and saving lives. Everything else pales in comparison.
Missionaries have the privilege of both; not only in the physical realm but in the spiritual realm. People trapped in bondage to murderous or self-destructive behavior are saved from the brink of death. While meeting medical and physical needs is necessary in caring for people who have no other help, our ultimate purpose is to save them from eternal death by introducing to them the Creator God who is the source of all life.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Is this authority enough to move you?
Is God’s Word enough to give you direction and purpose?
What clearer indication of God’s will would you need?
